Major General Patrick Donahoe is under investigation by the US Army concerning social media misconduct. Donahoe is the former commander of the Army’s Maneuver Center of Excellence at Fort Benning.
The Army has not said which social media posts sparked the investigation. Donahoe has built up a significant social media following. In 2021, he and Sergeant Major of the Army Michael Grinston had a public argument with Fox News host Tucker Carlson when Carlson raised concerns shared by many service members that the DoD was feminizing the military.
Donahoe has also targeted users on Twitter who disagreed with the Army’s COVID mitigation policies.
The investigation comes while prominent social media account TerminalCWO has continually called out Donahoe for his misconduct. TerminalCWO has also shown evidence that Donahoe retaliated against soldiers who filed complaints against him through the inspector general.
Donahoe had planned to retire, but that has now been put on hold. While the investigation is underway, he has been assigned as a “special assistant” at the Training and Doctrine Command.
An unnamed source said disciplinary action against the general is expected.
